Have you ever looked at a menu and wished that you could order one of everything because there were so many awesome options? Nine out of 10 times, eating an entire menu in one sitting isn't possible or a very good idea, for both your waistline and wallet's sake. Luckily, for those like me whose eyes are often bigger than your stomach, there are places like Patois.
Opened this past summer on Dundas West in Toronto, Patois, which specializes in Chinese-Caribbean fusion, makes decision-making a breeze by offering patrons "The Whole Shebang!" For $99, you can eat your heart out and feast on their whole menu which serves up over 10 items, including my favs: Juicy Jerk Chicken, Kimchi Potstickers "Pierogi Style," Jamaican Patty Doubledown and Seaweed Waldorf Salad. We also couldn't resist adding an order of Jerk Chicken Chow Mein (a daily special not included in the Whole Shebang) to our already out of control buffet. Needless to say, there was a whole lotta food which the two photos above can't even do justice.
My Patois experience was made even more epic because it coincided with the inauguration of BrosCon™! What is BrosCon™ you ask? Well, what started off this summer as an inside joke through a series of WhatsApp conversations with my two "bros," Flo and Justin, turned into actual plans for the three of us to chill, chow down and catch-up during the dragon boat off-season. With yummy eats, great service and a low-key vibe, Patois was the perfect place for us to kick-off what has now become a recurring gathering of bros :)
If you're looking to make an attempt at conquering the smorgasbord at Patois this weekend, I recommend that you too bring at least two, if not three of your fearless friends!
Thanks Chef Craig Wong for letting us get our eat on!
(Yep, with the exception of a small portion of leftover chow mein, we ate it all!)
